Under 10’s PNEWJFC v Lostock Hall, 7th December 2013

The two teams met for the third time this season, with a victory apiece from the two earlier fixtures.  Preston started strongly, dominating the opening minutes and launching several attacks on goal.  However it seemed the ball just did not want to go in the net!  Full credit to the Lostock Hall goalkeeper though who saved several early shots from the PNE girls.  In the end it was Lostock Hall who scored the first goal, their striker’s shot just too high for Megan to get to.  PNE gradually eased back into the game, Jaz had a great run up the right-wing and her cross was rocketed into the roof of the net by Sarah, making it 1-1.  The sense of relief was short-lived however as Lostock managed to squeeze in a second goal just before half-time.

Lostock started the second half just as strongly, scoring a third goal after their striker broke through the PNE defence and cooly slotted the ball home.  The PNE girls really rose to the challenge and pulled together well as a team.  New girl Lauryn demonstrated what a great addition to the squad she is with a much needed goal for the team, and Sarah soon followed suite, meaning the teams were now level again.  Both teams missed opportunities to snatch a winning goal in the dying minutes, making the final score 3-3 which seemed a fair result.
