PNEWJFC 3-0 Wigan Athletic

The Under 12’s gave one of, if not their best performance of the season so far recording a 3-3 draw with Blackpool this weekend.

Coming into the game with mixed form the girls were told to start the game with plenty of effort and enthusiasm against a Blackpool side who have started the season in good form.

This was taken on board straight away and 2 minutes after the start PNE went 1-0 up, Hannah Walsh scoring a long range effort after some great team play working the ball from defence all the way to the edge of the opposition box.

However, Blackpool hit back almost instantly with a long range effort of their own catching the still celebrating whites by surprise, equalising at 1-1.

This kick started PNE into action and one player in particular decided to take the game into her own hands, as Hannah Walsh scored two goals in very quick succession, completing her hat-trick in just 8 minutes.  Michaela Halsey, Charlotte Chalder and Charlotte Greenwood continued to be a constant threat down the wings, as Blackpool looked unable to cope with the PNE attack.

Blackpool however then scored again, before a stalemate ensued as neither team could find a way through. Much down the great work of Caitlin Wolfenden and Katie Towers in the PNE defence, giving a PNE a 3-2 lead at half time.

The girls were praised for their hard work and told to continue the same efforts in the second half, were the first half stalemate continued, where chances now beginning to fall to both sides with neither able to convert, Eve Walker with the best chance of the half making a tremendous run from the half way line beating several players but was unable to finish as she shot wide.

With the game nearing its end a Blackpool midfielder wasn’t closed down as she approached goal before she unleashed a shot which was deflected off the Blackpool strikers head past Sophie Kerr in the goal who could do nothing to save it after some fine saves across the game.

3-3 the final score, a result which the girls can be very proud of and use as motivation to kick on and move up the table in their remaining games before the Christmas break.

PNEWJFC 7-2 Burnley

Under 10’s

PNEWJFC 5-1 Blackburn CSC

The Under 10’s played Blackburn at home, and came away with a 5-1 win. We went 2-0 up early, then they pegged one back, and to be honest the opposition were stronger than last time we played them. Katie scored 4 with Jasmine scoring the other, all very good goals. The win came because of hard work throughout the match, right to the last minute the girls ran to make sure we kept the lead. This is the second week we have seen big examples of passing and moving football in the opposition half, which is great to watch. Dana, our new signing fitted into the team very well, adding to the strong defense we have.
