Last season we launched a new Under18s team which competed in the Lancashire FA County Women’s League Division 2. This was a major investment for our Club but a step we were determined to take.

The fact is that regardless of what set of statistics you read, it is clear that there is a major challenge to retain players, both boys and girls, as they make the important transition from Junior to Senior Football. By providing an Under 18s team last season it gave a perfect platform into Senior football and by competing in the Lancs FA County Women’s League has also provided a real stretch for our players in terms of their development.

To, therefore, win Division 2, undefeated, and gain promotion to Division One in the first season is perhaps one of our greatest achievements in a remarkable year for our club. Many congratulations to all those involved – players, coaches, parents and particularly Anthony Chattel, Manager.

Fittingly, our Senior Women’s team will now be taking on the administration of this team which will be called a Development team for season 2012 – 2013 as they gear themselves to take on the superb conveyor belt of talent that our club is producing. Dave Dewhurst who was last season’s Under 16s Coach will lead the Senior Development Team this season. It is hoped that in Season 2013 – 2014 there will be a Senior Women’s 1st team, Reserve Team and Development Team.
