Under 16s Blackpool to Preston Fundraising Walk

Our Under 16s At Deepdale At The End Of Their 17 Mile Walk From Bloomfield Road, Blackpool

On 2 September 2012 our Under 16s and their management team and a few hardy parents walked the 17 miles from Bloomfield Road, home of Blackpool Football Club, to Deepdale home of Preston North End Football club and the oldest professional Football site in the world.

The players and management were looking to use the work as a piece of pre season bonding but also as a chance to raise money for their forthcoming trip out to Dallas in 2013 to compete in the Dallas International Girls Cup.

An amazing £4500 was raised as a result of the walk and the amount is still rising as more donations continue to come in.

Many thanks goes to Steve Collinson who arranged the event and also Dave Rawcliffe, Jodi Kerr, Alan Ramshead and John Hunt, the parents who helped supervised the walk. A special mention goes to Lynne Collinson who drove the route as a first aider (who was never required to administer any).

We would also like to thank the Bell & Bottle, Lea Gate, Pig and Whistle and The Lane Ends Pub for providing the team with well needed refreshments and food.

The lap of honour around Deepdale at the end of the walk and before PNE’s home game with Swindon Town was a highlight for our players and we would like to thank everyone at PNE for their hospitality on the day.

The biggest thanks, however, goes to everyone who kindly sponsored the Under 16s. It is  thanks to their generosity that the dream of the team of flying out to the USA is coming true.

If anyone would like to make a donation please contact Lynne Collinson on Mobile: 07534993630.
