PNEWJFC GIRLS IN THE USA

We now have several ex-PNEWJFC girls who have realised their ambitions and dreams of both playing and studying in the United States of America. The following girls have now established themselves in their respective University teams:

EMILY LUPTON   Houston Victoria, Texas

OLIVIA MILLINGTON Louisiana Tech.

EVIE MANNING  Hobart and William Smith Colleges, New York State

AMY ROSKELL Park University, Missouri

HOLLY RAWCLIFFE   Limestone College, South Carolina

EMMA HICKSON. Limestone College

The American season only last four months so the life of a Collegiate athlete is very intense for this period. Pre-season training starts with 2x2hr sessions six days per week, these sessions will include general fitness, weight training and ball work. As the start of the season gets closer their academic studies will commence so training is often reduced to one session a day.

Once the season starts games are played twice a week with some games incorporating many hours of travel and overnight stays. This impacts on study time and girls are often playing catch-up with class reading and work whilst travelling to and from games. It is also important for girls to keep their Academic Grades to a high standard to enable them to play for the team as the coach is given regular updates on the academic progress of the girls.

The feedback from our girls is that none of them would change a thing and they all agree it is all worth the hard work in order to experience the diversity of cultures and the way of life in the United States of America.
