Under 14’s

PNEWJFC 7 – 1 Wigan

The U14’s were back in league action this week after negotiating a tricky away tie at Dynamo Rangers last week.
Wigan were the hosts and caught the whites cold after 5 minutes from a set piece. Sloppy marking in the box allowed the Wigan striker time to pick her spot despite the best efforts of Laura Harvey who got a strong hand to the shot but couldn’t keep it out.
The whites then took control of the game but found the home keeper and defence in resilient form. Just when it looked like it was going to be ‘one of them days’ again, Eleanor Cardwell brought the ball out of defence and rifled a 30 yard screamer into the top corner.
With the scores level at half time, Neve Nizinkicwicz-Steel was introduced to exploit the gaps in between the Wigan midfield and defence. The impact was immediate with Nizinkicwicz-Steel providing a constant threat and scoring a wonderful second half hat-trick.
A very good second half display saw PNE add a further three goals through Leah Molloy and a Hannah Wright brace.
Another tough test next week with a trip to Manchester City where the whites will look to maintain their fantastic form and keep playing their attractive brand of attacking football.
