Man City Ladies 5-4 PNEWJFC
Under 14s League Cup Quarter Final
PNEWJFC 5-0 Blackburn
The U14’s played their first game since mid November this weekend after the weather played havoc with all attempts to play some football. Despite the lack of games the home side started the game brightly and found themselves 2-0 up within 20 minutes. Olivia Wilkes with two real poachers goals showing she is always in the right place at the right time and knows where the back of the net is. The first a tap in at the back post after good work in the build up by Ellie Ditchfield and Olivia Rees and the second a great back post header from a Chyna Appleton cross.
The second half followed a similar pattern with the hosts keeping the ball well and looking strong and assured defensively. Soon after the re-start, Becky Smith pounced on a loose ball in the box and finished confidently with her left foot past the Blackburn keeper and a host of defenders in the box. The outcome of the tie was in no doubt when Hannah Wright and Chyna Appleton scored the fourth and fifth goals respectively with excellent finishes which the excellent visiting goalkeeper could do nothing about.
An excellent all round performance after finally getting back on the pitch and a very pleasing clean sheet.
