Our Under 13s were invited to play at the prestigious Wigton Moor Tournament in Leeds over the weekend of 6th and 7th June. This was by invitation only and involved clubs playing in the 2015 Northern Champions League.

Many teams had travelled a fair distance to get to Leeds, but everyone seemed to have a great time (blustery wind not withstanding!), and some excellent football was played – all in all, an excellent day.

There were two very tense semi-finals, both going to extra time and penalties (Bedlington Bulldogs edging out our own Preston NE 5-4, and AFC Manchester edging out Doncaster Belles 10-9 after a mammoth penalty shoot out).

The cup was won by Bedlington Bulldogs after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over AFC Manchester in the final – the third different winner in the three-year tournament history.

Fantastic result for our girls and we hope to join them again next year, in another celebration of high quality girls’ football!
